Welcome, everyone, to the new site Mothers With Cancer. We’re a group of a dozen or so mothers fighting cancer, raising children, and living life. We’ve all been talking about our cancer experience (and our cute kids!) on our own blogs, but this is a new way of looking at things. It’s a group blog, where we all can talk about the tough parts, the amazing parts, and the parts that surprise us with their beauty.
Some of us have been fighting cancer for years. Some of us are newly diagnosed. All of us have or have had cancer, and are living with it.
Some of us have teenagers at home. Some have little children, even babies. Some have grown children and grandchildren too. All of us care very deeply about our kids, and we are learning to keep things on an even keel for them, helping them understand what they’re ready for, and shielding them from what they are not. We arrange playdates, sign them up for lessons, send them to school, and cheer them on from the sidelines.
We laugh with them, delighting in every giggle, and we cry with them, wishing away their tears. We try to help the laughter drown out the tears, and to help our children build beautiful memories of life with mama.
We know a secret, you see, and this is what we want to share with you: it’s not easy living with cancer, but it’s worth it to keep fighting for those we love. Over the next year, some of us may get better, and some of us may get worse. All of us will fight this thing for as long as we can, for ourselves, our children, and our loves. Every day is important now. But, then again, shouldn’t it be always? No one is ever guaranteed another day on this planet. It’s all in how you choose to live.
We don’t know what tomorrow holds … but we didn’t before we were diagnosed either.
We are mothers fighting cancer, raising children, and choosing to live life to the fullest.
Welcome to our site.
